Renewable energy sources


Renewable energy sources are types of energy generated on a human timescale from naturally replenished resources. Unlike non-renewable energy sources such as coal, natural gas and oil, which will eventually run out, renewable sources can be continually replenished and have a much lower impact on the environment. Renewable energy has become crucial to the fight against climate change and to achieve sustainable development.

Types of renewable energy sources

There are many types of renewable energy sources, each with its own specific characteristics and uses:

1. Solar energy

Solar energy comes from the sun and can be used in two main forms: photovoltaic energy and solar thermal energy.

  • Photovoltaic energy: This process involves converting sunlight directly into electricity using photovoltaic cells. These cells are made of semiconductor materials such as silicon, which release electrons when exposed to sunlight, producing an electric current.
  • Solar thermal energy: This technology uses sunlight to produce heat, which can be used directly or converted into electricity.

2. Wind energy

3. Hydroelectricity
